Every AAMI level is tied to a test, a fabric and a critical zone. Pick one and the spec sheet changes.
Critical zone
AAMI Level 1 Isolation Gown

- Basic care, cover gowns, low fluid risk
- Fabric
- SPP or 2 to 3 layer SMS, 25 to 35 gsm

- AATCC 42 impact penetration, 4.5 g or less

AAMI Level 2 Isolation Gown

- Blood draws, ICU, pathology lab, low to moderate fluid

- 3 to 6 layer SMS nonwoven, 35 to 45 gsm

- AATCC 42 impact 1.0 g or less, AATCC 127 hydrostatic 20 cm or more
- Critical zone
- Front and sleeves, critical zone barrier

- Neck and waist ties, knit cuff, thumb hook option

AAMI Level 3 Standard Surgical Gown

- Arterial blood draw, IV insertion, trauma, most surgery
